I traveled to Paris 4 times with my husband….encountered the usual pickpockets, only lost a hairbrush! Paris is safe, friendly…especially if you have some French. I found some of my best encounters with the French was using my (brushed up) French and people seem to appreciate you are trying to speak their language and helped me. I had a health emergency and found the French medical service excellent….spent the day at the American Hospital. I just became widowed but I plan on going to Paris once more by myself.

Sorry, but what I find overrated and underwhelming is this video, "the Palace of Versailles, I've been FOUR TIMES, but you don't go." Paris is like Disney, it takes good planning.

Well done :) I'm always amused seeing the long line at l'As du falafel when by the corner there is an other restaurant making the same falafel sandwiches and where you never wait more than 5 minutes to get your delicious falafel kebab.

I get choked up every time I watch à video of the Normandy landings. My wonderful father in law was drafted at age 38...as a pharmacist, he became a medic..landed at Utah. The Caen museum has an exhibit of the kits and supplies the medics carried. His son , my husband walked a long silent walk along the beach.

I was standing resting on a 4 ft wall watching trains below me. I suddenly felt a presence behind me. I moved swiftly to my right and turned. There was a young man standing there. His are went up in the question gesture. I was wearing cargo shorts. I reached into the lower right hand pocket. He laughed and walked away.

I’m originally from the state of Maryland and moved to England some almost 31 years ago. We got engaged in Paris, 32 years ago. Recently went back to Paris for a belated 30 year anniversary, loved it, remembered how much and exciting Paris was and wondered why it took us sooo long to come back! Anyway…. Your visa application brought back memories when I had to apply for my English visa. I must admit at first I wondered if I made a mistake, especially with the weather and missing my family! Now I consider England my home, met amazing people and made great friends, and had my son here. Btw, just subscribed to your channel and I can’t believe how much I enjoyed your vlogs! Definitely will try some of the restaurants/ bistros you suggested!

As of 4:00 good video. I don't travel much, but my sister lives in Germany. I took a train with my mom from Bonn to Koln (Cologne), and my mom had been pick pocketed in the train station. We were completely oblivious. My mom did not discover the theft until we were on the train. My mom speaks German, and a nice older couple offered to help. So we got off at their stop, and they took us to their bank. The bank staff assisted my mom in cancelling her credit cards, and it worked out in the end. Mom, and I went back to Bonn, and went to a restaurant for an appetizer, and some wine. To this day I am still surprised because I would have expected something like that in Berlin, but not Bonn.

The “nem” & “Chinese crepe” are actually Vietnamese food. I think the restaurant may be a combo of Chinese and Vietnamese. The Chinese eat with soy sauce, the Vietnamese eat with fish sauce.

We are planning to visit Paris in late December to early January. It will be our first time. I saw your vlogs and have been watching most of your videos about tips for visiting Paris and it has been wonderful. It can be intimidating to plan but your videos are very detailed and helped me a lot. We like to travel in low season because less crowd and we can find cheaper accommodation.

These clips also show us how much some unspoken rules have changed over time without even us noticing ! One example being speed limits, 30 years ago it was unimaginable. Same with recycling - fairly new here. Otherwise, the « tip » culture is very true and it is very bizarre to us when we visit the US - we actually feel embarrassed to leave a tip as we never know how much we’re meant to leave 😅

I wish I saw this video earlier. I just came back from a Paris trip and buying metro tickets is a nightmare. I didn't do my homework because in Amsterdam I can just tap my credit card and go. Those machines are so confusing and hard to use, I waited in line for 30 mins just to find out I waited in front of the wrong kiosk.
